SediCon at ICOLD Conference 2018 in Vienna

SediCon was present at the “26th ICOLD World Congress in combination with the 86th ICOLD Annual Meeting ” in Vienna, Austria.

Our Technical Director Tom Jacobsen is a member of the Sediment Committee and he presented in the “New approaches to sediment flushing and routing methods including density current venting, sluicing and bypassing” session about Maintaining reservoir volume by combining Hydrosuction Dredging and Bypass Tunnels.

Combining hydrosuction dredging and bypass tunnels is more than a theoretical option. Hydrosuction dredging and bypass tunnels are technologies already in use and combining the two technologies is fully possible. For many sediment ridden reservoirs this may be the most realistic option to maintain their storage capacity.
